
Peter Barton - Architect
Has worked extensively in the NHS - at Yorkshire Regional Health Authority in Harrogate from 1978 -1989 as Assistant Regional Architect and undertaking from inception to completion numerous schemes ranging from major hospital development at Scarborough Hospital comprising A/E, OPD, ITU, Bed Wards, Pharmacy, Fracture Clinic and Medical Records - to Health Centres, Ambulance Stations, Individual Departments at other hospitals, Community Units for the Elderly, Post Mortem/Body stores, and Strategic planning of hospital development for Northallerton, York, Halifax and Hull District Authorities during the 1980's.
Since 1989, has worked in private practice as Health Care Director dealing with similar work at Hull Royal Infirmary - Pharmacy shop at RI and Oncology Dept at Sutton Hospital; with work also at Bradford major A/E Department and a private ward at the BRI, and a major Nursing College in Bradford and Lecture theatre Nursing College at De La Pole Hospital, Hull.
Further subsequent work has been designed and completed for a Medium Secure Unit at Fieldhead Hospital, Maternity Bed Wards at Pontefract Hospital, Endoscopy, CT Scanner, Microbiology/Pathology Departments at Pinderfields and Dewsbury Hospitals including New Main Entrance, MRI, A/E, Palliative Care and Elderly Mentally Ill Units at the latter Hospital.
A member of the Component Data Base working party with the NHS in London during the 1980's and 1990's and worked directly with the NHS Estates Executive in Leeds as a member of the Design Forum with Peter Wearmouth and others.
Also undertaken separately Project Management of specific schemes in particular the procurement of a large Polyclinic in Bradford.
Very recent work includes a Medical Centre in Hartlepool, a three-storey mixed department of facilities at Pinderfields Hospital, Pathology upgrade and Fire Precautions upgrade at Dewsbury Hospital and currently a Bed Ward refurbishment and Strategic Planning Feasibilty for a Post Graduate Education Centre with decanting of various departments to suit programming requirements.
Work carried out in compliance with the relevant HTM's and Fire Code and close working with M/E Consultants and Quantity Surveyors to ensure a co-ordinated team approach is achieved.
Acts as CDM Coordinator on a number of Health schemes.
