Efm Performance Report, Swindon and Marlborough Hospitals NHS Trust

Overview

  • To work with Trust personnel to collate all relevant efm performance related information.

  • To analyse the efm performance data and construct a comparative analysis against other Acute Trusts efm performance.

  • To identify performance areas of good performance and areas where performance could be improved upon.

  • To demonstrate a scale of improvements and benefits that could be achieved from the proposed action plan.

CPA Approach

  • Data was collected from existing sources, interviews and research into nationally held performance related data.

  • CPA undertook a desk-top benchmarking exercise that compared the Trusts performance across key efm criteria with other Acute Trusts, including other PFI schemes.

  • CPA produced an outline efm performance report that included an action plan and recommendation for savings and improvements.

Outcomes

  • The CPA report brought together in one document the various aspects of efm performance.

  • The Trusts perfor

  • mance was compared with PFI and non PFI hospitals.
  • A set of recommendations and next steps provided the Trust with a series of action points to consider that could result in significant savings of over £1 million per annum.

  • The Trust can also use the report to: - Prepare for the healthcare commission annual healthcheck.
    - Strengthen their negotiating platform with their PFI provider.
    - Develop greater insights into performance i.e. trends, best practice and enable future identification of performance improvement areas.
